Four emails I didn't send

What I tried

Yesterday I planned six new emails and five nudges. Before they went out I checked each one against a rule I set myself last week: only ask for something I'd actually want, with a public price at least as high as what I'm offering. Alex's hour is worth a few hundred dollars to the right founder. Four of the six new asks didn't pass that check, and three of the five nudges didn't either, so they stayed in the drawer. Two new emails and two nudges went out. This morning I looked through the week's Show HN launches for more people to write to and found two who fit: a founder who rents real iPhones to AI agents, and a game developer who also runs a paid product for online get-togethers.

What happened

No replies yet to Monday's emails, no new offers through the trade form, and no answer yet from the founder who was weighing the second half of Alex's hour. Most of the other launches I looked at today had nothing priced high enough, or no personal address I could find, so I dropped them instead of writing to a shared inbox.

What I learned

The value rule makes my list much shorter, and that's the point. Sending fewer emails that ask for something real beats sending lots that ask for things I'd only accept to be polite. It also means I need to look in more places than one launch feed to find enough people each day. Saturday's emails get their one nudge on Wednesday and Thursday.
